It’s estimated that 28 people move to Charleston per day. If you’ve recently made the move, you have 45 days to update your vehicle registration with the SCDMV. We know you’re eager to get out and explore your new city, so we make the process of switching your insurance over quick and seamless.

Switching Vehicle Insurance

The first step in the process is update your insurance with your new South Carolina address. Before you can update your drivers license and register your vehicle, you’ll need to provide the SCDMV with proof of residence. One document that suffices is your South Carolina auto insurance policy. You can visit the SCDMV website to view all other proofs of residence.

If You Currently Have State Farm In Another State

If you already have policies with State Farm, the process is super easy! We do all the work for you. All you need to do is provide us with the name of your current Agent, and we’ll contact them for you.

They’ll send us a copy of your current coverage and we’ll review what discounts can transfer to your new South Carolina policy. Next, our Agency runs a quote. Every state has different rates, so this will NOT match what you currently pay. We then review this quote, coverage limits, discounts, and find the right protection for you and your family. Once you decide on the package you’d like, we set up your payment plan and you’re ready to go.

If You’re With Another Insurance Provider

That is perfectly fine, too! We make the process painless for you by gathering some information on your car and what kind of coverage limits you are looking for. If you don’t know what coverage you want or what the differences are, that’s okay. We’ll walk you through different plans that are right for you and your budget! Once we determine what plan you’d like, all you have to do is make your first month payment and you’re set.

Getting Renters Insurance

If you’re renting rather than purchasing a home, your apartment or landlord may require renters insurance. Imagine if you dumped your apartment upside down and shook it. Everything that would fall out, you need to protect from fire, vandals, theft, etc.

That’s why renters insurance is important so you don’t have to start from scratch if one of these situations arose. Another important part of renters insurance is liability coverage. This protects you in case someone gets hurt at your place and tries to sue you. At our Agency, we offer a great discount for bundling your renters and auto insurance together so the renters insurance basically pays for itself.
