WHAT IS THE SERIES ABOUT? Young Voices is a project created by the Helsinki Hub of the Global Shapers youth organization. The aim is to give an opportunity for young people to talk about topics that are interesting to them, share their knowledge, and to inspire you. In the project, we will be launching new episodes, podcasts, and articles every two weeks. In the series, we will cover a range of topics from sustainability and personal development to health tech and AI — topics that feel vital to young people.

“To just live a happy life and do interestings things — they might be pretty much anything.”

In this episode Milda Dapkeviciute from the Young Voices team discusses with Helsinki Hub Shaper Sampo Tervomaa the lifestyles choices that come along with being a generalist. Sampo is a growth hacker by trade and likes to get a handle on everything out there. He is always trying out different opportunities, be it in sports, startups or in pursuing long term career ambitions — his being a MedTech company working with brain-machine type prosthetics and having a PhD in neuroscience.

In this episode, Milda and Sampo will be discussing the advantages and challenges of being a generalist, the ways in which you can use a multitude of different skill-sets in career and study choices and the approaches towards learning and failure. So sit tight — or go out for a stroll — and listen in to get some practical tips and learn how to let your interest be the guiding factor of what you do in life.
