COLUMBUS, OHIO (April 22, 2019) — SHARE Microtransit has launched their inaugural Earth Day contest, #SHAREtheEarth, offering $100 toward SHARE rides and a $50 Visa gift card to one winner. With each gallon of gas producing approximately 20 pounds of CO2, transportation is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. This contest rewards those who are decreasing their carbon footprint by sharing rides with others going the same way at the same time.

To enter the contest, participants must do the following:

  • Take a picture of themselves sharing a ride or of a SHARE vehicle they spot
  • Tag SHARE’s social media @ridewithshare
  • Use #SHAREtheEarth

Each photo submitted will count as one contest entry and individuals may submit multiple entries. A winner will be chosen on Friday, April 26. The $100 worth of SHARE ride credits can be used on scheduled events, airport rides, or rides to partnership organizations of which the winner is associated with.

“SHARE is celebrating those who are utilizing mobility options like microtransit to decrease their carbon footprint and better our environment. By encouraging participation for those who share a ride, we’re also promoting smart transportation options for those who are only using individually owned, single-occupancy vehicles,” said Ryan McManus, co-founder and CEO of SHARE Microtransit.
