A Song for Ice cream

A free verse poetry response to Kevin Keeney’s icecream celebration

You want the ice cream
I have the ice cream,
You can have the ice cream
If you perform the song.

The song I long to hear every time
I have ice cream for you.
That song you are so bored with performing
But you love ice cream.

And so you start,
I scream
You scream
We all scream
For ice cream!

And so the strange dance begins
As we both move around
In a circular motion
Singing more loudly
With each chorus.

I scream
You scream
We all scream
For ice cream!

I scream
You scream
We all scream
For ice cream!

Just like in the movie
Down by Law
Three inmates learning
The subtle language
Differences, I scream
And ice cream.

Only we have ice cream
and we are not imprisoned.

Well, I am free,
You are imprisoned
To sing and dance for me
So you can have your ice cream.

Thank you for reading.
I have taken reference from the Jim Jarmusch movie Down by Law staring the wonderful Tom Waits, with John Lurie and Roberto Benigni
for the rhyme in this piece.

Thank you Kevin Keeney for including me in your Icecream challenge
part of Martin Rushton’s Never-Ending poetry challenge.

So now over to you the Titans of poetry… I humbly request a consideration to write a piece on Prison or a derivative of… Suryatapa Martin Rushton MicheletheTrainer Somsubhra Banerjee Tooth Truth Roopa Vikesh Stephen Dalton … Excuse me for any repeat prescriptions. J.

Guess what…
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the desire to write
that thoughts acquire speed, the mind acquires words,
words become Poetry. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.
