My heart is smoke-choked.

Your actions, the lighter,
gave my recklessness power.

Your presence, nicotine,
grew friend before fiend.

Your wake, stale smoke,
permeates me.

Your memory, carcinogenic,
won’t leave.

My heart is smoke-choked.

Please let it be.
