Homeless 2

After the storm

Photo by James Stamler on Unsplash

Birds of a feather gathered together
and came back to the tumbled tree.
They chanted their songs
and hopped up and down
on the arms of the broken limbs.
The squirrel returned
and paid homage to the tree.
It remembered the seasons
and the warmth and coolness
of its leaves.
A tree stood tall,
showing off its strength
behind the broken tree.
But the squirrel was faithful
to the dying tree.

We love poetry and fiction.
