A Little Magic One Morning for an Asthmatic Child This is a prompt response to “Picture It” A late-night read next day idea whoops

On a cold winters morning
A fresh fall of snow lay thick
Upon the now hidden grassy grounds
Of the school for children
With debilitating ailments.

Peering from an asthmatic bed
Through the ice frosted window
Magic unfolds before the sick child’s eyes,
A respite, from their asthmatic plagued body.

A small figure at the edge of the wood
Among bare branches and conifer trees
Decorated with the previous
Night’s snowfall, slowly and carefully,
Edges its way out into the glistening snow.

A curious red fox,
Its thick red coat seemed to radiate
Against the Pure white sparkling snow,
An exceptional sight, one usually reserved
For a grey fox’s venture out
From the darkened woods.

This morning’s a treat for the asthmatic child.

A quick sniff while scouring the surround
Before the children come out excitedly
To play in the night times snowfall,
While the child confined to his Asthmatic bed
Does not mind staying for he has time
To contemplate his gifted vision of the
Beautiful shy red fox.

Not a red fox on a log, a red fox near a wood.

Thank you for reading. J.
