Despite the obscene amounts of money we continue pouring into the Pentagon, it seems the United States forgot to strengthen the most important piece of any 21st-century defense system: cybersecurity.

On September 2nd, 2021, the Chief Software Officer (CSO) of the Air Force & Space Force suddenly resigned from his post claiming he was “tired of hearing the right words without action.”

In a lengthy Linkedin Post, Nicolas Chaillan railed against the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for its self-inflicted dysfunction.

These bad decisions range from appointing ill-trained personnel to leadership positions purely for their military rank, to hypocritically preaching the need for a stronger network architecture while denying the IT and cybersecurity programs the required funding to accomplish that goal.
