“Rainbow Garden 5” 20x16 acrylic on gesso board.

“Rainbow Garden 4” is 9x12 on canvas, “A Gathering of Ladybugs” is 4x6 acrylic on canvas board, and “Field Mouse” is 4x4 acrylic on canvas board.

Well, I ran with Jillian Amatt—Artistic Voyages’s rainbow prompt, and delved into the colors of Spring. “Rainbow Garden 4” even sold, which was an added encouragement. I had to add some denizens as well. Our house had a whole pack of ladybugs for some reason. And since we have been having a lot of spring showers, we have a lot of mushrooms and now a lone frog croaking in out backyard. With all of these, there is some brushwork, but mostly, I used palette knives.

“Rainbow Garden 6” is a 5x7 acrylic on canvas board, and “Frog and Mushrooms” is a 4x6 acrylic on canvas.

“Sunset on the Santa Lucia Mountains” is a 12x9 acrylic on gesso board, and “Two Sides of the Same Face” is an 11x14 acrylic on gesso board.

The Santa Lucia Mountains are a wilderness area of steep sides. This painting is inspired by their beauty. I removed the trees, save one oak, to reveal the contours. The face appeared out of the play of rainbow colors.
