Pointillism Anyone? How About Some Dotted Art?
A Share Your Creativity Art Prompt
Pointillism art dates back to the 1870s/1880s during the Belle Epoque era, which is often associated with “a period of high artistic or cultural development” in France. The technique involves using dots or dashes of color to produce an image.
Thanks to the artists Georges Seurat and Paul Signac for its emergence even though critics mocked them for their artistic style. History has proven otherwise, as pointillism has hugely influenced other art forms. Even Vincent Van Gogh used pointillism for some of his paintings.
Pointillism Prompt
When I read this month’s Share Your Creativity prompt, I knew I wanted to create something. I remember doing a project in pointillism when I was twelve.
Was I aware that it was called pointillism? I’m not sure.
Maybe my professor mentioned it, but I didn’t store it in my memory bank.
What I can recall distinctively is the repeated placement of dots on paper.
Thanks to Jillian Amatt - Artistic Voyages for inspiring this piece.
Before I began
I had a list of questions.
