Scarecrow Pixel Art Animation: October Art Prompt
Monthly Challenge For “Share Your Creativity” Publication
Pixel Art
I’ve held a deep admiration for pixel art long before I mustered the courage to venture into creating it myself.
While this design may appear deceptively simple at first glance, it’s actually the result of meticulous planning and careful composition, aimed at achieving a unified and visually pleasing image. Every pixel has been selected and positioned with the purpose of ensuring the final creation is harmonious and well-balanced. When these tiny squares are arranged in a specific harmony and rhythm, they have the power to form intricate masterpieces.
What’s even more rewarding is the ability to breathe life, motion, and character into them through animation.
I must confess, that I had no prior experience in crafting animations, and this particular one was crafted using the Aseprite program. Following the creation of the animation, I dabbled further with some details, and in the process, I unintentionally omitted to recreate the animation with those additional elements. Strangely enough, it seems to have a more appealing charm this way ✨ Plus, I couldn’t resist including my white cat in the mix :)
What matters most is that this publication has brought back memories of this artwork for me, prompting me to revisit it and reflect not only on the creative process but also on what I truly cherish about pixel art — something I had almost forgotten I adored :)
This happens to be my absolute favorite season. With my Scarecrow image, I aimed to capture the romantic, dark melancholy that defines Halloween for me. It’s the month of spooks, ghosts, and the comforting warmth of sipping tea by a cozy fireplace at home.
Hello, October! And a joyous Halloween to all!
