My wife had been asking me for a new kitchen for a long time
Last year, as a wedding anniversary present, I decided to remodel the kitchen for her. It was a lot of work, but it was very rewarding in the end. During the remodeling process, we removed all the old cabinets, the stove dishwasher, everything. We gutted the kitchen and basically started from scratch. During the remodeling process, the house was a little hectic; we couldn’t use the kitchen at all.
Things Get Worse Before They Get Better
There were kitchen items all over the house. We couldn’t even find a glass to drink water. But other things were really fun. For example, since we couldn’t cook, we had to eat take out almost everyday and the kids really liked that. They were thrilled with the take out and wanted the remodeling to take longer. On many occasions, the neighbors also brought us food, since they knew we didn’t have a kitchen, and some invited us over for dinner.
My wife had a magazine with the kitchen that she wanted, and she kept looking at the page and comparing it to the new kitchen. She was so excited, and she was very happy with me. I was very happy to see her happy. Once the construction was over, the kitchen looked amazing. We had all new cabinets, a kitchen island, a microwave built in with the cabinets, which we didn’t have before. And we installed a new stove, new faucets, sink, tiles, and everything else.
New Gadgets Everywhere
Selecting all the new things to install was a very fun experience too. My wife and I did several trips to the store to pick out the specifics she wanted. She was so happy as if she was buying a brand new car everyday. Overall the remodeling process was very fun, and once we were done, we had a little party with our neighbors, and my wife’s friends were helping my wife cook in the new kitchen. Everyone was admiring my new kitchen, and now I get a lot of delicious home made meals.
But my favorite gadget of all is the silly new electronic thermostat. I like it because I can program it to go down at night and for when we are all out of the house, like during work hours. And when we head out for the day I just press “away” and it lowers the temp by a few degrees until we come home again. Love the built in frugality.
