My journey to connect to the soul of India found a perfect match in ShareChat

Growing up in Kerala, one thing which always fascinated me was the sheer size of the country which was lying ahead. Every time I looked up, I could sense the enormity of the area which I had to cover to connect to the soul of the country. Having worked and lived in multiple cities and states, I always had a fascination for roots and diversity. There is an inherent beauty to it which I wanted to explore and connect with. And then, I found ShareChat!

What do people look at when they explore the possibilities to join an organisation? On a surface level, there are the 3Ps — People, Position and Package. For someone like me, who is in the early stage of my career, those three are good enough reasons to pick the side. But when the chance to work for ShareChat came across my way, there was little more to it. I was smitten by the journey that ShareChat embarked on. The journey towards connecting with the soul of India!

Trust me, ShareChat wasn’t an overnight sensation. It didn’t travel to the remotest parts of this incredible nation one fine morning. The relentless quest to connect the last person in the queue, introduce them to the internet, empower them, is what helped ShareChat to reach where we are today. As we push forward, it is the same quest that will help us take ShareChat to the next billion users. Isn’t it an exciting challenge?

Nobody understands India like an Indian. India is a young, diverse, vibrant country full of colours and packed with emotions. It is home to more than a billion people cutting across all possible classification. To build a platform which has been constantly interacting and communicating with people across the length and breadth of India, and at the same time stay as diverse as it could stretch, you need an ‘Original’ thought that understands the soul of this country. It was and is ShareChat, and that’s the story I wanted to be a part of.

India is the world’s largest democracy. The wheels of this country are driven by the ethos of giving a fair, honourable and transparent chance to everyone in the system. If you look at how ShareChat has opened up the social media space, which otherwise didn’t entertain an outsider, you will see the same ethos printed all over. If you look at it closely, ShareChat in all its capacity democratised social media for an average Indian. In many ways, ShareChat was the trigger that opened the floodgate for an average Indian to be empowered on social media. It gave them a platform to liberate and express themselves, without being judged. ShareChat wanted and managed to do it because it understood the soul of this country. There is no magic recipe to do it.

This platform has given voice to people who otherwise were marginalised and sidelined on other so-called traditional social media platforms. This platform created stars out of people who otherwise were deemed unfit to popular folklore. ShareChat has given Indians the flexibility to choose what they want to read, watch or listen, all in their preferred vernacular language.

At the end of the day, the essence of the ultimate truth behind everything that we do at ShareChat boils down to one common goal — connecting with the soul of India. Growing up in a little village in Kerala yearning with a fascination for India and its soul, I didn’t even think twice to be a part of ShareChat’s journey!
