The ShareRing Development team is located over in Vietnam! They were working in a co-working space but are very delighted to be moving into a specially fitted out office for them. Exciting times!
The location of the new office was chosen with the team in mind — so it would be convenient to their homes, to great eating spots, and to transport. The team have been influencing the decor and setup. Rohan tells about one day when they all got on their scooters and drove across town to inspect the space when first choosing it. Having a dedicated ShareRing space for development is important for ShareRing but also for the Vietnamese staff. They are very proud with how the space has shaped up with specific meeting rooms for team work with large whiteboards and with large screen TV monitors to support video conferencing and shared digital discussions. These are things that might seem natural to many corporate setups but are very special in a Vietnamese workplace. ShareRing cares deeply about our staff and we believe the choices we make about place of work, is a meaningful way to show how we value our staff.
The team is growing to 18 with a mix of Developers, UX specialist, Business Analyst and Project Manager. Rohan is developing a passionate autonomous team who can grab the challenge in front of them and use their creative talents to deliver. Rohan, COO has temporarily moved with his family to Vietnam to oversee the development of the team and working space. He intends to retain oversight but return to living in Australia later in 2018.
The team has international experience, and as we are an international business that’s an valuable ingredient for quality product development.
ShareRing chose Vietnam as the location for the Development team for a mix of actors: cost, location and time-zone relative to Australia and Hong Kong, and the entrepreneurial culture of HCMC. IT Tertiary education in Vietnam is very influenced by Australian universities who have a big presence there. This means there is a quality level of education and familiar methodologies of technological practice taught.
While the sharing economy is in its infancy in Vietnam, our Development staff are very enthusiastic that they can play a role to grow this both at home and overseas.
