We’ve made some exciting new changes to Sharesies. Now, instead of just being able to track the performance of individual investments — you can see how your entire Portfolio is going.

The new Portfolio screens (check out those repeat deposits!)

What’s new?

We’ve added some more info to the Portfolio page, focusing on three key areas:

1. The diversity of your Portfolio

Here you can see the value of your Portfolio and how this is spread across the different risk levels: Lower risk, Medium risk, and Higher risk.

We get asked a lot ‘what should I invest in?’. There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this. It’s really about how long you’re looking to invest, and your attitude to risk. To help, Sorted.org have created a great investor kick starter tool that asks you questions to see what type of investor you are.

We use this to show you what kind of investor you are based on the investments you have in your Portfolio. Click through to get more detail about the different investor types, and how these are calculated.

2. Your total return summary

This shows any deposits you’ve made into Sharesies (including the Welcome Bonus) and your total returns. Also, what your returns have been to date, and how these have been calculated. If you’ve made any withdrawals from your Sharesies Wallet, these will show here too.

3. Your total growth

This chart shows you the value of your Portfolio over time. It includes any deposits you’ve made and the total Portfolio value. This will show you whether it has gone up or down, and the number of units you’ve bought or sold during the selected period.

What else has changed?

  • Your Wallet balance is now included in your total Portfolio value. The Wallet has also changed to being blue.
  • New Portfolio tiles — so you can see at a glance the number of shares you own and the funds current value, the percentage return, and what kind of fund it is.
  • Slight terminology change of how investments are categorised — we used to call individual investments as balanced, conservative and growth. These will now be called Lower risk, Medium risk, and Higher risk to better align with the terminology used in the industry.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to share what they would like to see to understand how their Portfolio is going. Really looking forward to getting your feedback on it!

What else has been happening?

  • Hitting some milestones—We launched Sharesies 5 months ago and now have 8500+ investors who have invested over $5 million through the platform.
  • Things got a bit spooky—We had a great time adding a few spooky touches to Sharesies a few weeks ago. 🎃. Shout out to people who noticed!
