While meditation found its ways into western psychology, in the process of reclaiming its practice, QTBIPOC acknolwledge its longstanding cultural history.

Instead of using it merely as a grounding technique, they view it as a way to transcend constraints of gender and sexuality of their body:

“Meditation is more than just sitting on the floor, crossed-legged with your eyes closed. Meditation is the practice of allowing yourself to acknowledge the spirit that is you. Who is the You that is boundless and unquantifiable? Who is the You that knows no form or containment? Meditation was the beginning of a long journey of learning to understand one of the most complex beings I will ever know — me.” — Abhi

This practice helps them to deal with the daily microaggressions, dysphoria, and negative thoughts that may arise from them being in their body.
