Having stuck to it for five years, I have no doubt that Italian food deserves recognition as an intangible cultural heritage

Food enthusiasts across the world may have come across the news without a doubt, but let me mention it again for the sake of convenience. Late last month, authorities in Italy launched a bid to have its globally famous food procure a UNESCO intangible heritage status.

Being someone who firmly believes Italian food is the best and deserves a numero uno status, I have had a good feeling ever since I stumbled upon the news. It is a case of pure, unadulterated human emotion. As far as I am concerned, there is no culinary experience as impressive as one involving Italian cuisine.

Anyone who likes Italian cuisine, or for that matter, has consumed Italian food at some point or another, will identify with what I am trying to imply here. To say Italian cuisine’s uniqueness stems from an inherent emphasis on keeping things simple will be akin to stating the obvious. Having said that, it is this simplicity that makes Italian food special.

My love for Italian food is eternal. Bruschetta, calamari, focaccia, gnocchi, lasagna, Margherita pizza, pasta, risotto, spaghetti Bolognese, tiramisu……
