The One Time My Heart Overruled My Diet at Lake Bled

While my mind did not quite approve of it, I went ahead nonetheless and tasted the original Bled cream cake

“You were in Bled, and you did not try the famous cake.”

“It doesn’t make sense to go to Lake Bled and not try out the Original Bled Cream Cake.”

“The Original Bled Cream Cake is delicious. It’s a must-have.”

We have heard these before — the comments mentioned above, that is. However, we used to laugh it off.

There was no shying away from the fact that on each of our visits to this beautiful destination in Slovenia, we couldn’t taste the famous, and extremely popular, local delicacy. On the contrary—we had no qualms about admitting that we made zero effort to taste it.

Every trip my partner and I make to Blejsko jezero, or Lake Bled, a pristine blue alpine water body 34 miles northeast of Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia] is about soaking in the beauty, serenity and tranquility of what is without doubt one of the most exquisite destinations on the planet.

It is about getting rid of the mental fatigue that sets in owing to the ever-increasing professional commitments.
