Retail jobs are not off limits. Robots could wipe out another 6 million retail jobs. That represents at least 38% of the current retail workforce, which consists of 16 million workers.

Truck drivers are not off limits. Fully automated trucks could put half of America’s truckers out of a job within a decade.

Doctors are not off limits. Technology could replace 80% of what doctors do. Much of what physicians do (checkups, testing, diagnosis etc.) can be done better by sensors and analytics.

Investment bankers are not off limits. Wall Street’s credit-derivatives traders are being replaced by machines as banks cut costs and heed new regulations.

Lawyers are not off limits. Academically trained attorneys are increasingly being replaced by technology to analyze evidence.

Marketing jobs are not off limits. Half of the marketing jobs could be replaced by machine intelligence. Marketing strategy planning probably won’t be replaced; many systems automate supporting tasks such as trend analysis and data extractions.

The hardest activities to automate are Creative work, Managing people, Knowledge work, and apply knowledge to decision-making.
