Put Your Feet up, Grab a Cuppa and Enjoy Your Weekly Digest
But don’t have a durry; those things will kill you
So, I guess I should explain myself first, huh? ‘What is a durry?’ A durry is a cigarette. Some of you learned the meaning of ‘cuppa’ last week, now you’ve learned two new things.
I’m afraid my list of stories is short, this week. This is my first month on Medium, and I’m still very much learning the ropes. I’ve been spending this week learning as much as I can about this fantastic place. I even started posting on Twitter again. After a week of getting back into Twitter, after years of not using it, I can tell you proudly, I have seven, count ’em, seven followers.
The frustrating thing is that I think years ago, my account had something like 2,000 followers? But then blogging fell out of favor, and I relished the thought of not using Twitter. And now? I can’t remember the password or email address I signed up with, all those years ago. So, there you go. Thwarted by my own absentmindedness. That’s fair. The good news is, I’m enjoying Twitter more, this time around.
So, what did I write this week? I wrote a ten-minute piece called, I Couldn’t Speak Up Against Sexual Harassment as a Student. It ends better than you’d think it would. I wrote, Make These Simple Changes to Fit Incidental Exercise Into Your Day. I encourage you to sit on the exercise bike as you read it, for a more immersive experience. And finally, I re-published a book review, Nevermoor, The Trials of Morrigan Crow.
So, there’s a bit of a story with that one. I published it a little while ago. Submitted it to a publication that shall remain unnamed. That publisher decided to edit some affiliate links into my piece. Not my affiliate links, of course, their own. The piece, as a result, wasn’t curated, which is fine. However, I was annoyed to have missed the opportunity for curation because of someone else’s actions. The lesson for newbie writers here? Look out for that shit.
Anyway, back to the Nevermoor series: I’m currently reading the second book in the series, and should have a book review for it, soon. You will be able to find it in my new publication that goes by the exciting name: The Book Review. See, I may not have written a huge amount, but I’ve been doing things behind the scenes. My favorite part about my publication is that none of the book reviews shall have any affiliate links in them.
Well, this week’s digest will be a short read for you, but I think my tangents made up for it. I hope you all have a relaxing weekend, and an excellent new week ahead.
