It’s almost been a full year since we launched our inaugural mentorship program. We set out to create a program that would bring new people into crypto and allow those in this space to pass on their knowledge. We released a form not knowing what to expect, and ended up with over 500 participants from 35+ countries. The response has been incredible — we initially had more mentors than mentees! We’ve loved seeing the space come together to foster a new set of crypto users and builders and we’re looking forward to expanding the program further with this next iteration of mentorship.

Throughout the program mentees have gone on work at some of the top projects in the space including Dharma, Celo, Sia, UMA to name a few and formed their own companies including TryCrypto and Lagatos. Countless others have acquired their first cryptocurrency, used their first DApps, pushed crypto initiatives at their high schools and universities, and have even run Lightning nodes! 80% of mentees who entered the program reporting their crypto knowledge as “new to crypto,” now consider themselves “crypto enthusiasts,” or “crypto experts.” We also emphasized cross border connections by matching mentors and mentees from around the globe to understand this space from perspectives they may have not previously considered. For more on this first batch’s matches, check out this post featuring pairs and their experiences from this first iteration of mentorship.

With that, we are excited to announce that signups for Mentorship v2 are now open! Mentorship pairs female identifying individuals new to crypto with professionals in the crypto space to learn from each other, serving as guides and allies. With this second iteration, we’re building in takeaways from our first year with more programming from the she256 team, an improved and scalable matching method, and new experiments in connecting the whole mentorship community.
