A study of women and underrepresented minorities in the blockchain space and what we can do to inspire more diversity in blockchain.

she256 is excited to launch the first annual Future of Blockchain Study. The goals is to quantify the gap of women and underrepresented minorities in the blockchain space — and outline how we can truly democratize technology to include all.

Over the last couple of years, the blockchain space has seen immense and undeniable growth. Job roles and companies within this industry have skyrocketed (the role “blockchain developer” itself has grown 33x over the past year as reported by LinkedIn!), yet there is currently no systematic way of quantifying the contributions women have made to the industry. Historically, women and underrepresented minorities have been left behind in the web and mobile revolutions. Let’s shake up history and make way for a new standard.

Diagnosing challenges and devising targeted solutions requires an understanding of the problem. There is dangerously little data about women in blockchain. The Future of Blockchain Study will highlight the gap that exists today, showcase the work of women pioneers in the space, and outline how we can engage more women and underrepresented minorities.

“Understanding the current landscape of contributors in crypto is crucial to fostering a diverse and inclusive industry. At she256 we believe that crypto will touch people from every walk of life around the world, and with technologies so far-reaching it’s imperative that those building these technologies are representative of the global, diverse population which they are to serve.” — Alexis Gauba, she256 Co-Founder and Executive Director

The Future of Blockchain Study is designed to serve as a compass to help inspire more underrepresented minorities to join the space and to help projects build more inclusive and diverse teams. In the spirit of decentralization, we invite everyone to contribute.

“I’ve been excited to see all of the amazing work that she256 has been doing to make the blockchain industry more diverse and inclusive from mentorship programs to educational events. Their next initiative of a diversity study is important for better understanding the current landscape, kickstarting conversations around the data, and identifying areas that can be improved.” — Linda Xie, Scalar Capital
