New diet, new body, with an advanced GOAT mindset. Diana Taurasi has not held out on anyone in the league this year. She is undoubtably having one of the best years of her WNBA career. Just when you thought the eight time all star had nothing else to take from the game of basketball, she breaks another record in this 2018 season.

Taurasi is called the goat of the WNBA for a reason. If you don’t believe it, just ask Phoenix Sun, Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker. Since the early stages of her career, the Phoenix Mercury player has broken several records and continues to impress despite her age. Her numbers speak for themselves because she is averaging 20.3 ppg and 4.9 ast. Per game.

This year, the Mercury, lead by Taurasi, has put its print in the league and refuses to be counted out. The Mercury is currently ranked number two in the league. Last season, during a match up against the Los Angeles Sparks, Taurasi became the all-time leading scorer, surpassing former WNBA champion, Tina Thompson. To add to her allocates , earlier this season, Taurasi became the first WNBA Player to reach 8,000 career points in June. She is the first and only player to ever achieve this goal in the WNBA. While reaching 8,000 points is a great accomplishment and dream for many now and to come, she is still coming up with numbers in other areas of the game. Just recently, Taurasi became the first in leading in the most field goals made in history. The 14 year veteran broke the record July 5th in an impressive game against Connecticut Sun. She finished with 25 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals to seal the game. Plus the Mercury took the win along with Taurasi record breaking performance as well.

Still, there is more to this Taurasi voyage. The goat is not shy in being the first to ever do it either. According to the WNBA she became the first ever to:

* Lead the league in scoring and assists for a single season

* Achieve 7,000 career points in WNBA

* Faster player to attain 7,000 career points

* Fastest player to exceed 6,000 career points

* Achieve 500 plus points in each season of her first five years

These were just a few to name of many of Taurasi achievements over her career in the WNBA.

What is there left to do on Taurasi record breaking list? Well, she is the fifth leading scorer this season and falls just short of 2.1 points of Breanna Stewart, who currently holds the number 1 spot. Taurasi contract was extended to 2020 with Mercury. (This is not a claim saying the the veteran will retire or continue). She has two and half season to stamp her name on more records in WNBA. Can she accomplish anymore records by 2020?
