During our November 2024 trip to Chicago, our son finally took us to a pizza spot he’d been raving about: Piccolo Buco. There are only two locations for this restaurant — Rome and now Chicago!

We ordered two pizzas — Classic Margherita and Fungo — both thin crust. When the pizza arrived, the server brought scissors to cut it. Scissors! I wasn’t expecting that. I’ve seen pizza cut all kinds of ways, but this was a first for me. It was such a simple idea, but it added a fun twist to the meal.

The pizza? Absolutely amazing. The crust was thin and crispy, just how I like it. The toppings were fresh and flavorful, perfectly balanced. Every bite reminded me why I’ve always loved thin-crust pizza — it’s light but satisfying, and it lets the ingredients really shine.

Chicago’s famous for its deep dish, but I’ll always have a soft spot for thin crust.
