We're excited to announce our new community associate, Maryblessing Okolie.

A few weeks ago, we put up an application for a community expert to join our community team in leading our ever-growing community of over 20,000 members like you across Africa.

We're excited to introduce Maryblessing, who will be playing a full-time role in managing the community and developing and executing community engagement strategies to increase the participation and retention of community members.

Our Community Manager Lead, Omotola Eunice Omotayo, had a short welcome chat with her. Below is the chat summary:

Meet our new Community Associate.

Maryblessing Okolie: She Code Africa Community Associate.
Maryblessing Okolie: She Code Africa Community Associate.

Meet Maryblessing:

Maryblessing is a community architect and an advocate with solid analytical and engagement skills. She uses she/her pronouns.

She is dedicated to building sustainable tech communities and is committed to seeing more women find their path in tech and take up more STEM roles.

Her career journey:

She began her tech career in 2019 from a low-income background as a social media manager at a videography agency. She then transitioned from a content creator to a Flutter mobile developer and product manager and is now excelling in community management.

Her previous roles have seen her engaged across organizations like STUTERN and Remotebase.

Maryblessing also plays an active role as an open source advocate, volunteering her time to contribute to the CHAOSS project through the Africa chapter.

What value will she bring to the SCA team:

She believes being a great researcher and analyst is an essential addition to the She Code Africa team.

Her goal at She Code Africa is to prioritize developing strategies and increasing members' participation; setting KPIs and keeping track of useful metrics can help you make better decisions and build better ways to work with other communities.

Fun facts:

You’ll find her playing games when she’s not on her computer. She’s also a lover of cats.

We look forward to working with Maryblessing. We hope to see the incredible connection between her, our community members like you, and our partners, helping bring all our community program ideas to life.

Say a warm welcome to Maryblessing in the comments and on the community platform!
