What to expect at SCA Summit 2023 — A Journey from inception
After University, Ada Nduka Oyom was propelled to build something for women and girls looking to pursue a career in Tech and for those already in the system and looking to improve — seeing how difficult it was for her when she started out.
This “something” would go on to be a shining light on the paths of over 30,000 (and counting) girls and women — She Code Africa. As of 2016, women in the STEM field were grossly underrepresented. She Code Africa (SCA) came to change that.
From 2016 to 2022, we held many virtual hackathons, workshops, info sessions, and other events that aligned with our goal. We also had mini-meetups within our chapters. Then, in 2022, a decision was reached: We launched the inaugural edition of what would soon become our annual headline conference. Over 1,000 incredible women and secondary school girls graced our event, and our aim was clear: to carve out a secure physical corner where these brilliant souls could engage in empowering dialogues, acquire diverse skills in tech and career fields, and connect with notable women in tech and esteemed partners.
From amazing keynote speakers like Odunayo Eweniyi (Co-founder, Piggyvest) and Ashley Immanuel (Co-founder, Semicolon) tackling the thought-provoking theme, “Elevating The African Women In Tech,” to self-reflecting sessions like Dedoyin Ajayi’s insightful talk on mental health for techies, and engaging panel discussions on employability and career growth, we had it all. With a collection of 17 speakers, 9 enlightening sessions, and 1000+ women in attendance, we indeed crafted an unforgettable experience.

For our Muslim queens, we’ve thought of you too. We’ve set up a peaceful and convenient prayer room where you can take a moment to pray during the summit.
Free Professional Headshots:
The average cost of a professional headshot in Lagos, Nigeria, ranges from 50,000 NGN to 100,000 NGN. However, at this year’s summit, there will be free headshots for the first 50 attendees. So, come early.
Free Transportation:
Are you worried about transportation expenses? No need! We’ve got you covered with shuttlers services from various locations, including Yaba, Unilag, Oshodi, Ikeja, Ikorodu, and Iyana Ipaja. If you’re close to these areas, your transportation to and from the event is sorted. More details will be in your inbox soon, so keep an eye on your emails.
