Coursera, why this?

Two weeks ago, I noticed that there is a problem with Coursera. I believe everyone knows what Coursera is. But for those who don’t, it’s a learning platform.

Anyway, back to the issue I was talking about. I freed it until I experienced ANOTHER issue last week.

I tried to enrol for a guided project, but they asked me to pay. I didn’t know you had to pay for those because I did like three or four last year for free. As a broke babe, I said “no please” and tried to remove the course from my cart. I couldn't.

I decided to Google the issue and apparently, you can’t remove stuff from your cart. I saw that and was like, “Ehn?” because really, why this?

Someone asked oga/madam best answer to share how they did it, but no reply till now. So, the icon that shows when there’s something in your cart is just there annoying me, and I can’t do anything about it.

Now to the new issue. I’m currently taking a course. It’s actually a specialisation with four courses. I assumed I would move on to the next course in the specialisation immediately after getting my final grade for the first one. Omo, I was wrong o. I tried to start the second one, but these people told me that there’s no space.

I was confused because how was I supposed to finish the specialisation? I kept trying to figure out when there would be space and how long I would have to wait. I decided to search for the next course in the specialisation, and it said the same thing. No space.

I use Coursera for Students, so I left it and went to My Coursera. I searched for the specialisation there and it showed that I was already enrolled, which I was.

But when I clicked on the next course, the one they said has no space, I saw “enroll for free” and I got confused again. I clicked on it, and it showed this.

I clicked on continue, and I finally gained access. I’m still wondering why I had to go through all that stress. What was the reason? Why did I have to manually (re)enrol in the course when ideally, I should have been granted access immediately after finishing the first one? Why can’t I remove stuff from my cart? Why do I have to deal with that annoying icon for God knows how long?

While I was writing this, I remembered how I tried to unenroll from some courses last year, but I wasn’t allowed to because apparently, you can’t unenroll after two weeks. These people need to work on their user experience or something.

I decided to go back to my cart after I finished writing this and I saw “remove from cart”. Where and why exactly was it hiding before? Why do people keep having this issue? Okay just like three people complained, but I’m sure more people have experienced this. Anyway, I’m free now. Bye-bye to that annoying icon.
