Amazing support from 3rd Bowmanville Scouts
Last year, we had the absolute pleasure of learning about Trystan Howard, a Scout with the 3rd Bowmanville Scouts who was working towards his Chief Scout Award. Trystan believes that no family should go without shelter and is an amazing young supporter of ShelterBox Canada.
“I knew more people around the world could really use one of these boxes after a natural disaster to help make things a little easier for them and their family.
I decided that raising money for a ShelterBox was one way I could make a difference in the world. The thought of people being without shelter bothered me. In Scouting we are taught that shelter, warmth, and clean water are the key elements to survival. The ShelterBox program provides for all of these, which makes it a natural fit with Scouting. This is why I chose to raise funds for the ShelterBox for my Chief Scout Award…”
Trystan worked incredibly hard and with the support of his friends, family and Scout community, raised $1000 for families in need following conflict and natural disaster. Amazing work!
On May 23rd, ShelterBox Canada Executive Director Stephanie Christensen and ShelterBox Canada Ambassador Geoff Lloyd had the opportunity to meet with Trystan and the 3rd Bowmanville Scouts. They attended the potluck dinner with all of the kids and their parents, and had the chance to see some incredible students receive recognition for their hard work with the 3rd Bowmanville Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers & Rovers.
