Get Together To Brighten Lives

You can brighten lives by hosting a fundraising candlelit dinner for friends and family.

When disasters strike and power lines go down, families are left vulnerable, wrenched away from comfort and light.

This is why every ShelterBox we pack includes two LuminAID solar lights that bring light and immediate safety to those who have lost everything. Learn more about the LuminAID solar lights

It’s simple to get involved. Sign up today!

As you dine, you will be raising money to provide emergency shelter for families who need it most. You can make it a cozy dinner at home with family and friends or bring your neighbourhood together at a local venue.

Why Shine?

It really is simple (and fun!) to host your own Shine for ShelterBox dinner. Hear from two ShelterBox Canada Ambassadors on how their Shine events went last year.

We had a lot of fun on our wine and cheese Shine evening. We invited a Rotary Club member and his wife to talk about their Camino adventure, and presented an overview of ShelterBox. It was a great social for many club members, their partners and friends. Social, Rotary awareness and ‘doing good in the world’ by supporting ShelterBox — What could be better?

Member of the Rotary Club of Calgary West, District 5360 Past District Governor

The success of the dinner was based upon four elements: a 5 minute presentation showing ShelterBox activities worldwide, a commercial display system showing many of the same photos, a tabletop display of the box contents, and information cards on all of the dinner tables.

The [Woodstock] Rotary Club matched the largest single donation of $2,000.

Eugene Lewis, ShelterBox Canada Ambassador

When you sign up to host your own dinner, we will provide you with all the tools you need to make the night a success. You will have access to a script, invitations, and story cards to place at your guests’ table settings.

As an added bonus, if you raise $200 or more from your dinner, you will receive your very own LuminAID light. If you raise $500, you will receive a book written by ShelterBox Response Team member, YiShun Lai, entitled Your Country Is Beautiful: Notes From An Aid Worker.

Join us in brightening lives this winter and sign up to host your own Shine for ShelterBox Canada. Unable to host your own dinner? Be part of the conversation with the hashtag #ShineforShelterBox on Facebook and Twitter.
