Excerpt of letter written by Maya, student at Ormiston Public School (full letter below)

ShelterBox Canada is honoured to have the support of students and staff at Ormiston Public School in Whitby, Ontario.

Staff at Ormiston reached out to ShelterBox Canada regarding grade 3/4 students taking part in a persuasive writing class. Their goal was to write letters to local businesses and encourage them to donate to support ShelterBox’s humanitarian work around the world.

ShelterBox Canada Executive Director, Stephanie Christensen, had the opportunity to speak to the class and meet the students writing these inspiring letters. After explaining to the class the lifesaving aid items that the students can help provide to families in need, they showed Stephanie some of their letters.

What follows is one sample of many letters written by these truly incredible students:

With $550 raised from community partners who made donations in response to these letters, and funds raised from family members and a holiday concert raffle, Ormiston Public School raised $1186.25 for ShelterBox Canada!

We are thrilled to see such encouraging words from grade 3/4 students and to have the support from members of the Ormiston School, and Whitby, community.

Thank you to everyone for helping us ensure no family goes without shelter.
