When I first heard the song, I cried, I clapped, I felt certain that it could become an iconic peace anthem, harkening back to the era in which I was raised, with Blowing in the Wind and We Shall Overcome as examples of the 60s calls to action.

I invite you to listen to the music and then learn about the performer, Gary Scarpello.

Has music been a lifelong interest?

Yes. We always had music playing every day in my house. My father sang and played harmonica his whole life. He played whenever and where ever, at house parties, holiday parties. He played for the troops on the troop transport ship as they sailed off (and back home) to WWII. He was self-taught as was his mother, my grandmother, who played piano of Italian songs at holiday parties. My mom had an acoustic guitar that I began playing just before the Beatles came out. Of, course the Beatles just tore the lid off of everything. I began performing in the Philly tri-state area. I played as a solo act, in duos, and in bands in many musical genres including folk, rock, blues, and country to jazz.
