May 2017 Newsletter
Wow, May has been our busiest month so far!
With so much going on, and a lot to get through in this email, we’ll keep the specifics brief. But you can always reach me directly at nick@sheprd.us for more info!
First, the Sheprd App is now (finally) available for download in the Apple App store! Check out the app here and if you like it, leave us a review! I love getting feedback on new design and feature ideas, please send me your suggestions! Small brag: 5/5 stars on the app store already with 10 reviews — not bad for the first week!
With the app available, this also means that REAL rides have started! Look for our School Bus/Land Rover SUVs (happy students included!) all around Newton, and even some areas of Brookline. We promise downloading the app and booking rides for your children to-or-from our growing list of partner locations is way less work than hiring a babysitter or brokering a carpool. But if you have any trouble booking a ride in the app, our Community Manager Dan is available to answer any and all questions at dan@sheprd.us or 617–564–0725. For our early users, we are offering the first ride booked in the app FREE, so contact Dan now to get started!
With just 20 days left in the school year (we know: happy kids, anxious parents) we are working with our SUMMER CAMP partners; Beaver Summer Camp, Brimmer and May Summer Camp, Hipstitch, and Creative Dance Steps. Have a different summer activity you need to get your children to? Suggest a new partner here! Space is limited for these programs so be sure to book rides now before space fills up!
On the making-sheprd-an-even-better-experience side of things, on Saturday, May 6th we hosted over a dozen undergrad and grad students from the Boston area for an IDEO-inspired make-a-thon experience. These students went through a crash course in design thinking and produced some awesome ideas we may soon be implementing in vehicles to help kids have an even better time with Sheprd. We also identified two outstanding participants who are now our summer interns; please welcome to the team Stephen and Natalia!
Out in the community, we attended the Newton Arts Festival Spring Showcase on Saturday, May 13th, to talk with parents about Sheprd. We hope to see you at the next one we’re attending: Newton Highlands Village Day on Sunday June 11th!
That’s all for the May update, but there’s lots more to come! Stay tuned!
