Sheprd July Update

The summer is flying by and July has been our busiest month yet; we have a lot of exciting news to share with you:

1. Innovative Technology of the Year! Last week, MassTLC selected Sheprd as a finalist for their “2017 Innovative Tech of the Year — Consumer Tech” award! The Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council is New England’s largest technology association and will be hosting the finalist at their 20th Anniversary Awards Gala in September. See a full list of the finalists here.

2. New Partners! We’ve had tremendous success with our summer camp pilot program and have been running daily rides to many local schools’ summer camps (Beaver, Chestnut Hill, etc.). It’s going so well in fact, that we just added on:

  • Newton Community Education Classes at Newton North and Newton South High Schools. Pop open the app or contact Dan at dan@sheprd.us or 617–564–0725 to schedule rides to these locations!
  • West Suburban YMCA — For the upcoming school year, Sheprd is available for rides to-and-from activities at the YMCA. Check out all the great programs they offer for the upcoming school year.

3. School starts in just 5 weeks! We are actively expanding our fleet to meet growing demand, but our September is already filling up. To ensure your spot, schedule rides as soon as possible!

Parents with Android phones don’t despair! We are currently working on an Android version of the Sheprd app — until it’s released though, contact Dan (who also has an Android phone) to book rides by phone or email.

4. We’ve moved! (kinda) the Sheprd team now works out of the Newbury Street co-working space in Back Bay and the Newton Innovation Center (NIC). The NIC is a joint-collaboration between MassChallenge, the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC), and the City of Newton. We’ve loved getting to know the other start-ups and look forward to continuing to share advice and experiences!

5. Our Flock Grows! Please join us in welcoming the newest driver in the Sheprd family, Mayelin!

“Hi everyone! I am the mother of two girls, a professional makeup artist, and decided to become a School Bus Driver two years ago because I absolutely love working with children, and take pride in keeping them safe when traveling with me. From day one, I felt confident that Sheprd was different than other transportation companies; it feels like a family.”

6. Sheprd in Hollywood? Yep, Sheprd was on set in Los Angeles, CA for a few days this month. What were we up to? “Stay tuned!”

Thanks again for your continued support — we’re busy working to keep the proverbial “wheels on the bus going round-and-round” and we look forward to writing these monthly emails as a chance to step back and reflect on all that we are doing.

All the best until next time!
