Success has never been about what you have or how much you have. Rather, all people with lasting success will tell you that it is about the mentality, the passion, the motivation and the drive of a person to make an idea excel. As one of the top lift companies in the UK, we know all about what works in a business and what does not. And as a company passed down through three generations, we know all about learning from others, taking advice not as criticism but as a way to improve, and adapting influential people’s ideas and philosophies into our own work ethic.

A prime example is where we got the inspiration for this article from; it was in fact this quote by Film Director and Screenwriter, Jim Jarmusch:

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery — celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from — it’s where you take them to.”

For today’s article, we are sharing with you our biggest influencers in business. Of course, inspiration can come from all kinds of people, places and things, but in attempt to not bore you from an endless list of motivational people, we will stick to those in business.

1. Richard Branson

As founder of one of the most recognisable brands in the world, the Virgin Group, Richard Branson’s reputation as a businessman is highly positive. One of his most admired traits is the way he treats his colleagues. Only recently did a viral photograph circulate the net of Branson posing with a sleeping member of staff. What’s more was Branson’s relaxed reaction about the situation. No disputes in sight.

2. Ze Frank

Starting his career accidentally through a birthday invitation he created going viral back in 2001, Frank’s online career took off before YouTube even existed. After multiple years having a successful YouTube channel when the platform was created in 2005, Frank has now become one of the most influential public speakers and businessmen in the world as President of Buzz feed. His inspirational and innovative ways of expressing human behaviour through his YouTube vlogs validates his credibility as an important person not only in business, but in life.

3. Sheryl Sandberg

After meeting Mark Zuckerberg at a party, Sandberg swiftly became the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook. Soon after, Sandberg was to thank for making Facebook profitable. In 2012, she became the first female member of Facebook’s board of directors. She also previously worked for Google, as well as many other highly successful companies, showcasing her experience and drive as a businesswoman.

There are many, many more people in business that influence us at Sheridan Lifts, but these the top three that come to mind. If your business is struggling to find success, retrace your steps and go back to your passion and motivation and it is there you will find the key to success.
