We’d like to introduce you to Francesca Chia. Francesca is the co-founder and Chief Community Manager at GoGet.my.

She’ll be speaking at the next meet-up — SheSays KL: Women in Tech —where we will be discussing what it takes to build a meaningful product, and what success means to each individual business. Harnessing the power of crowdsourcing, GoGet is making waves in the tech community not just for being one of Kuala Lumpur’s hot new startups, but because it offers us a brilliant example of the sharing economy in action. We’re super excited to have her onboard for our next meet-up! Here’s what she has to say…

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learnt over the last year?

To enjoy the journey.

For the first 6–8 months of GoGet, it was very easy and inevitable that I became entirely engrossed and razor focused on executing and achieving milestones that sometimes I would forget to look around at the progress that we made and how far we have come. Until one day I looked up and we had over 1000 GoGetters, and I had to take a step back and breathe for a moment.

When I did that, I realised it’s not always about running as fast as you can, but also looking up and around you while doing so and enjoying the environment and journey itself.

What’s your burning question of the moment?

My burning question is “How can we continue to redefine part time opportunities?” This is our core and we ask ourselves this question regularly as we believe in creating a sustainable environment to empower people through connecting them on the platform.

The ability to give opportunities to earn and allow people to be their own boss is powerful and we aim to ensure this is brought to as many people as possible.

What’s the most inspiring thing you’ve seen/heard/read in the last year?

My biggest inspiration in the last year stem from the GoGetters themselves, every so often, we will get feedback from our users about how a GoGetter changed their life, helped them at such a crucial point in their lives and made a difference.

When that happens, it is the biggest boost for us to work to ensure we maintain and grow this marketplace to a much larger and more efficient state. If we are able to do this today with just 12 months and a minimal budget, we believe we can do this at an insane scale that will inspire others too.
