Blockchain as a Service in ShieldCure

Today we would like to introduce what is Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) and what kinds of BaaS are provided by ShieldCure.

Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) is, as it literally says, referring to “Blockchain as a Service”. BaaS is a form to combine blockchain with the platform as a Service (PaaS), being one of cloud service. BaaS is a service that allows customer to leverage cloud-based solutions to build, host and use their own blockchain apps, smart contracts and functions on the blockchain.

Before BaaS is on the stage, the cloud services fall into three broad categories : “Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)”, which provides only both data storage and server, and lets customers solve their software failures themselves, “Platform as a Service (PaaS)”, which provides platforms to develop software in a bundle package, and “Software as a Service (SaaS)”, which provides not only PaaS but also software together.

As mentioned earlier, BaaS is a service, which combines cloud services with blockchain, equips blockchain technology and infrastructure customer needs, and then being provided to customers.

It is getting simple to add and remove nodes in the blockchain network. Provisioning is available as well. The provisioning is that system resources are allocated, deployed, and distributed on users’ demand and then, if necessarily, server resources are allocated regardless of a location. It is also able to provide a programming model which creates blockchain application by virtualizing the underlying infrastructure of blockchain.

ShieldCure blockchain will provide BaaS together with our affiliated Alliances based on identity authentication service. This ultimately builds an information data economic ecosystem where information and data owned by individuals can be freely traded. As the name of the project “ShieldCure” presents, security is at the center of ShieldCure and will be the backbone of various BasS built on top of identity authentication.

ShieldCure provides the following four main features :

1. Filtering features for de-identification when collecting, using, providing and managing personal information, and taking countermeasures against potential data leakage/theft.
2. Strong identity confirmation feature based on biometric recognition and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
3. Trust model applied with three major security governance mechanisms (R&R, SoD, LoP) and RBAC-style decentralized access control model considering Security By Design from the initial development stage of the blockchain.
4. Data utilization feature with personal information guidelines in compliance with international legislation such as Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and that of the OECD.

Using the aforementioned features, users can register and store personal information and assets that can only be accessed by the owner on the database outside of main-blockchain for real-life usage, and allocating minimum amount of information needed to be shared on mainchain blocks such as major transactions, accessibility to data, and registration and access history. Service providers can reduce costs since they don’t have to build and manage their own security services by using the ShieldCure platform.

As users will be accessing the chain with device sensors in the era of IoT, the trustworthiness of privacy protection and information gathering are most important. Along with the trustworthiness of information and integrated confirmation of users, device and information provider using the blockchain, fast processing speed is also very much needed. ShiedlCure blockchain will build a safe gateway into the blockchain specialized in IoT in cooperation with various partners based on already secured trust.

Today we did introduce Blockchain as a Service. Next time, we would like to give an introduction on “Digital Asset Management Service (DAMS)”.
