What Do Australian Kids Think of Refugees?

We sat down with 18 children between the ages of 6 and 11 to see what they knew about, and thought of, asylum seekers who come to Australia.
The children from across Sydney came from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. Two of them were refugees.
With the release of the Human Rights Commission’s report into children in detention, it really came home to us that children shouldn’t have to know about immigration policy, least of all the inside of our detention centres.
