MY FAVORITE.
Here, i felt that Scotland just made it to my top countries list with New Zealand. I took a bus directly to Glencoe visitor center. From there, I walked a few miles east..
As bitter as I may have been at one point in Lloyd, it is my second home and the reason why Caltech is still a positive influence, and I love it. Through an alum, I found out that Fingal’s Cave — one of the alleys in Lloyd — is an actual place in Scotland. So I couldn’t miss it. So I went on a tour…
Rome was a severely disappointing city. Not because there wasn’t enough to see, but there were just so many tourists and people in general. And the whole city, compared to Florence was severely uninviting.
After the Stonehenge tour, the student tour went to the city of Bath, where we visited the main park, and the circus around it — the row houses made in a circular fashion is called a circus, apparently.
Cinque Terre means five lands. This area is composed of five different cities built on the western coast of Italy. The beauty of the region is the colorful building villages on the very edge of the coasts. I stayed in the middle of the five cities: Corniglia.
A must visit for tourists is Stonehenge! I went with a student tour group, and had audioguides to use. But audioguides are free to download on a smartphone.
It’s sort of a lie if i say I actually went to Pisa. My train to Corniglia, Cinque Terre was stopped because of a strike, and I had ~45 minutes to spare in Pisa. The leaning tower of Pisa was a 25 minute walk away, so I ran for my life. With all my bags and my non-running shoes to glimpse at the tower and…
An underrated city on the Western side of Romania, Timisoara was the center of the Romanian Communist revolution and is the cultural and economic center of Western Romania. Things were ridiculously cheap. I saw a burger stand on the side and got this oversized burger for $1. But I regretted it…
One of the most famous locations in Malta is the Azure’s Window, which was featured in the Game of Thrones series. To get to Gozo, i think you can fly there, but you can get on a ferry for 7–8 euros roundtrip, and take buses, which are 2 euros for 2 hours worth of transfers. And there is one bus that takes…
Forget all the other filming locations.
This is the one to rule them all, because a lot of the filming happened here, and you can see all the props that were used to film the movie.
Like always, I woke up super early to see the sunrise in Florence. I have three full days here, and I wanted to make the most of it. I’ve be interested in art for a bit (not that I know much) so this city was what I was looking forward to the most!
My last destination in Europe before term starts is Malta! I didn’t even know this was a country, or that it existed, but after researching Game of Thrones filming locations, saw that Malta was a big one. I got here in the evening and decided to relax before traveling. I meant to go scuba diving…
On my last day, I rented a bike from my hostel to ride early in the morning to see the sunrise at the Piazza Michaelangelo. Although I was told that it would rain, I got extremely lucky and the sky was a pretty pattern of clouds.
One of the places in Italy that I wanted to visit is “Tuscany.” It’s a region of Italy that includes Florence, and is famous for wine and its magnificent view with cypress trees.
The biggest city besides Florence is Siena, and those two cities are thought to be rivals to…
Turns out I have a week of nothing to do in London before term starts, so I planned an impromptu trip to Scotland. A must visit for Harry Potter fans is the Jacobite train that leaves from Fort William! I took an overnight train (Caledonian sleeper train, 33 pounds one…
Romania is not really a popular tourist/travel destination (yet) and the reason why I wanted to go was because I saw a post on Pinterest of the Pestera Villages and had put it on my bucket list to visit. I looked for public transportation methods and private tours to…
