How to attach a barcode scanner with a repirator?

In our physical computing project, we were trying to figure out how to attach the barcode scanner with a respirator.

This is the respirator, and the barcode scanner is the one you see everywhere in the shop.

First, we tried hot glue and messed up. Also because the surface of the handle of the scanner is not flat and slightly slope so it is quite hard to make it attach tightly. I then tried super glue but it didn’t attach strongly as well. We also 3D printed a female coupler sticked with the respirator and printed a male coupler sticked with the scanner then attached together, but it didn’t work as well. So we decided to try another way: 3D printed out a flat disk and glued it to the scanner by using super glue, and used velcro on both respirator and scanner side then attached together.

The 3D printed disk, which could flat the surface and help velcro attach strongly.

We also painted part of the scanner as it used to be messed up by hot glue.

It looks good, and very strong. We need user to wear the mask then bend, and hold their breath to trigger the scanner, so it need to be attached strongly.
