Shohoz celebrated its 5th Anniversary on the 17 July 2019, at the The Westin Dhaka. Honorable ICT Minister Zunayed Ahmed Palak graced the event as the Chief Guest and Kazi Aminul Islam, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) was the Special Guest.

Professor Andy Wu, Assistant Professor at the Harvard Business School was the Keynote Speaker. Andy Wu is an Assistant Professor of Business Administration in the Strategy Unit at Harvard Business School, where he teaches in the MBA and Executive Education programs. Andy Wu’s keynote speech revolved around the strategy for the future of consumer technology. He discussed his extensive research on value-based strategies: the importance of value creation and value capture.

Maliha M Quadir, Founding Managing Director of Shohoz reflected on the evolution of the company. She reminisced on the struggles she had to overcome to start the first online ticketing company in Bangladesh. She talked about her journey of including all various verticals on Shohoz with the single vision of making lives easier of Bangladesh.

Maliha M Quadir’s dream of launching a Super App started during her MBA at Harvard Business School. In 2019, she one step closer to her dream as Shohoz transformed into a super app with 6 different services under one platform whilst still expanding to more. It currently provides bus tickets, launch tickets, event tickets, ride sharing, and food delivery services. During the event, the Founder also announced the launch of its truck booking service.

Shohoz is now proudly terming itself as the largest online destination of Bangladesh by serving 15 million Bangladeshis and completing 65 million transactions. Shohoz Ride is currently one of the top players in the ride sharing industry with over 50,000 rides being completed daily through over 100,000 registered drivers. Shohoz Food has captured over 20% of the market share delivering 3,000 orders daily through over 1,500 partnered restaurants. When it comes to ticketing, over 1,800 daily bus routes are now available on the Shohoz platform, through 70 registered bus operators.

As global technology industry is shaping the way consumers are leading their lives, Maliha M Quadir talked about the evolving consumer needs of Bangladeshis and the importance of innovation in fulfilling those needs. This is where she envisions Shohoz positioning itself to make the biggest impact. She unveiled the revamped tagline of “Shohoz, Shobar Jonno” which translates to “Shohoz For All”. The company is now re-imagining inclusiveness where everyone deserves a truly easy life. Shohoz’s services and offerings have always been dedicated for the collective welfare of everyone, regardless of age, gender, social status, religion or culture.
