Whether it’s an vital part of your ever day commuter, or you enjoy a casual ride around the city, Phoenix’s Grid bike system is putting a new twist one public transportation.

You’ve probably seen them, the green bikes lined up on several downtown Phoenix intersections. The bikes are part of a bike share system called Grid. The system is designed to make public transportation more accessible, so even if your destination isn't reachable by bike a commuter could use the Grid bike system to get them to an area that has other transport options, like the light rail or bus system.

An hour on a Grid bike will run you about 5 dollars but if you are a regular user there are weekly, and even monthly, plans to make bike rentals as economical as possible. There are around 25 bike hubs in the downtown phoenix area, a rider may rent a bike from one of these locations and return it at whatever location is most convenient for them. The Social Bicycles app gives a rider the ability to find the closest hub based on their current location.
