Lines intersecting from a scaffolding on Roosevelt Row.

Downtown Phoenix is going through change. It was once a place that no one wanted to visit or live in. This photo represents the intersection of old and new and a city being rebuilt. There are several new luxury apartments being built on Roosevelt Row. Many are excited for this change but some fear it is making downtown Phoenix unaffordable.

I hope to see downtown Phoenix keep its character while becoming a nicer, more advanced place to live and work. The old and new need to work together to revive this beautiful city we call home.

I like to think about Phoenix as a representation of its name, a city being reborn from the ashes. In the book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling it says, “ Phoenixes burst into flame when it is time for them to die and are reborn from the ashes.” This is exactly what downtown Phoenix needs to do and I’m excited to see what it will become.
