You know The Notebook? The movie about two star-crossed lovers in the 1940’s who are simply made for one another? That’s Darren and Katrina. Old souls who are so kind, giving of their time, and who love to do the Lindy Hop.

This old-fashioned style has been a big part of their love story since the very beginning, and as I’ve gotten to know Darren and Katrina, it makes me happy to be around them and to see them together.

On the morning of their wedding, both Darren and Katrina seemed calm, confident and excited about the day ahead. Spirits were high and after some kitchen line dancing and celebratory Coca-Colas, Darren, Katrina and the bridal party were whisked away by classic cars to be married at St. Luke’s in the garden. Both sets of parents had been married there so it only felt right to carry on the tradition. It was a lovely intimate ceremony and each mother was presented with a rose, a touching acknowledgement of the importance of family.

The venue for their reception was also an easy decision. Both Darren & Katrina volunteer at Fanshawe Pioneer Village, and it’s a place that holds special memories for the couple and a lot of history in the buildings found on site.

We had a great day full of sunshine, friends, mind reading (compliments of Nippy the DJ), and an especially touching speech from the bride and groom that received a standing ovation (something I had never seen up to this point). I honestly could not wipe the smile off my face. These two have a love that is so pure, innocent, and real, that I have to thank them for allowing us to share in the joy of their wedding. It was an honour.

Now, on to some of my favourite photos from our time together. Enjoy!
