Shopping in a AI first world

Google is transitioning from searching and organizing the world’s information to AI and machine learning. It is a reflection of evolving expectations of digital consumers on how they interact with devices, access information, and act on it.

For example, when shopping for things that we regularly buy — it should be a simple ask. “I’m running out of Body Lotion. Can you order that for me please?” should automatically resolve to your favorite brand , along with the size and variant information, and the retailer where you usually buy that from. Needless to say, your app should seamlessly place the order without you having to do anything else. (Google Home can now distinguish up to six users by the sound of their voice — so the app should know the preferences of your entire family!)

In a AI first world, shoppers’ expectations are distinctly unique in their “I need to buy this” and “I want to buy this” moments.

On the other hand, when shopping in a discovery led category like fashion, AI should help them shop with ease. For example, visual search can help shoppers discover products they love without having to describe fancy silhouettes, exotic materials and nuanced colors on a search bar.

At Shopalyst, we are building a Product Knowledge Graph to help easy discovery and purchase from any app, on any device — perfect ingredients for shopping in a AI first world.
