How We Boost Creativity, Team Cohesion and Communication with Food
The night of 19 March was no ordinary Friday for the D5 designers. Rather than saying their casual goodbyes and calling it a week, the team marched into the weekend with a fun food-making workshop. The workshop aims to explore how fusing food with design can boost creativity, team cohesion, and communication.
The assignment was simple. All the designers had to do was use common ingredients available in the company’s pantry to make artistic, delicious desserts or drinks through creative processing. The 1.5-hour workshop includes mise-en-place, the actual food preparation, and finally, sharing and tasting sessions.
On the front of team cohesion, we think the event worked its magic. We got to observe chatters and waves of laughter permeating the atmosphere that evening, blending excellently with the aroma of food wafting through the cafeteria as it was being prepared.
The D5 designers are primarily responsible for food delivery design in Shopee. This event meant a lot to them as it stays true to their mission of delivering experiences through food. It also helps team members better understand their work’s value and encourage a positive attitude towards work and life.
