How to teach the app to recognise missing products

I received an email today from someone asking for a new feature request:

“Why is 1/2 tsp not detected as a measurement?”

As it happens, the app does understand this measurement, but it can become confused if it doesn’t know the product being measured, which in this case was “juniper berries”.

There is a simple way to teach the app new words. First, add the item without the measurement (i.e. “juniper berries”), then categorise it:

After this, the app will always recognise the word in the future. The new word will now appear in the suggestions list, and any measurements will be correctly understood:

The next version of the app, which is planned for release later in the year, will have built-in support for many new products (including juniper berries), but it will always continue to have the ability to learn new words.
