Startups inom IoT — trender
Wing Venture Capital är en liten men nischad VC med rötterna i Accel & Sequoia. Man är aktiva i relativt tidiga faser, och har fokuserat på nätverk och infrastruktur med en rad framgångsrika bolag.
När jag träffade Peter Wagner, så hade man precis släppt en presentation på temat: IoT Startup State of The Union 2016.
Connecting billions of objects to the Internet — a process that we call “Instrumenting The Real World” — is going to have a transformative impact on the enterprise and on society, and we’re still only in the very early stages of this change.
Några saker som var speciellt tydliga:
- Vi ser många uppköp och en konsolidering på området. Och många olika tagare (från helt olika håll):
- Det finns massor av plattformar — vilket kommer att leda till en shakeout
- Säkerhet kommer att vara en stor möjlighet
- Industri/tillverkning är det segment som är är stabilast (tillsammans med transport/logistik).
- IoT kommer att forma om hela branscher (ex försäkring)
The real power of the Internet of Things is that it transforms a static product into a dynamic service. Once a thing becomes connected, it becomes part of a much larger fabric of things. We’re still only in the first or second innings of this shift.
