Member-only story
Greetings, I’m A366, Your Loyal Robot Assistant.
A short story placed in #10 of round 1 of the NYC Midnight 100-word microfiction writing challenge
Writing challenge requirement:
Genre: Sci-fi
Action: Going home
Word: quad
On Yingying’s deathbed, A366 held her hand, skin paper-thin from old age. Most beautiful smile, nonetheless.
“May your next person cherish you, too,” Yingying said.
Heart rate flatlined. Mission completed.
The portal to the home base opened.
Time to pick a new owner at the Quad.
One last glance at its friend of the past 80 years, A366 hopped inside the tunnel.
Mission button selected.
A younger time.
But the same destination.
The same door unlocked by the same fresh smile.
“Greetings, Yingying. I’m A366, your loyal robot assistant.”
For the hundredth time, it was good to be home.
Thank you for reading! Sci-fi is one of my weakest genres, so needless to say, I was as surprised as I was excited to move on to round 2 of the challenge. I hope you enjoyed my little story.
