Julia took her Latte to go and started heading towards the door, when she suddenly stopped.

No, she wasn’t ready to go just yet.

Not from there, too.

She just got fired.

For ten years, Julia was a secretary. Steady paycheck, green salad for lunch, Pilates in the afternoon, an old romantic movie at night.

Her life was going somewhere. Not somewhere she liked, but it was going somewhere.

And it took one mistake on a business report to get fired.

And now her life was going nowhere.

It was a hot summer’s day, but Julia felt cold inside.

Her Latte was the only thing that she wanted.

She looked around; there was a table available at the coffee house, way in the back.

She took her Latte and headed over there.

Julia sat on the chair, her hands slowly caressing the hot cup, slowly bringing it to her lips, slowly taking a long sip.

With her eyes closed, trying to push back her tears, she took another long sip.

It didn’t feel so cold inside anymore.

Thank you for being there for me, she whispered to her Latte …
