Short Shots City

I sat glued to the television last night as Al Jazeera broadcast most of the debate in Congress to impeach you-know-who. Despite the uncivilized behavior of those crazy louts on 7 January, the adherence to procedures in the House impressed me.

Extremely civilized compared to our South African parliament, where members raise their hands on “a point of order” and whoever’s talking has to stop. Then the Speaker inquires on the point of order, which is often a nefarious scheme to disrupt proceedings.

The best circus show is the State of the Nation Address given by the President in February each year.
